Deviantart!

Well, I've had a Deviantart account for about two years now; however, it has been exceedingly neglected, due to the fact that I do not possess a large amount of artistic talent (aka: I can't draw/paint for shit).

On the other hand, I know how to write up a coherent sentence and I know the basics of Photoshop Elements. So, I therefore think to myself: "Hey, why not visit that good old Deviantart account I had once upon a time, in a land far far away?"
So I subsequently visited this account and posted a couple of scraps which I personally thought were marginally better than some of the other crap I see over Deviantart. Some of my posted works include this (attempted) coloured image of Audrey Hepburn:

...
Don't laugh, fool! You totes wish that you had my colourising skills!
Anyway, other lame works include my crappy creative writing story for English (which I shockingly did well in) and some colour splashes.
But, yeah... this is all part of my attempt to become a cool deviantart kid. =DDD

Here's me link:
(it's a bit lonely at the moment. Please cheer it up. Kthnksbye.)

Yes, I'm still alive...

Reasons for my absence:

Reason #1. My internet has been slower than a snail carrying his shell, his mother's shell, his father's shell and his sister's shell all at once. So, I'm updating now because it's a lot faster than it was before, but I still can't watch videos or do other regular things I'd usually do on the internet.
Reason #2. I've had quite a bit of school work... which I have (failingly) been attempting to do.
Reason #3. I haven't really been bothered... but that's only because of the scarce amount of downloads I have in my possession, not because I don't love posting. =)

*sigh* Okay, well since that's out of the way, how's about I just post my new playlist? Never has music been so abundant in my life, so I think it quite appropriate to share with you the songs that are keeping me sane. Here they are:

Pain - Hollywood Undead
Somebody Help Me -
Full Blown Rose
On My Own -
Chrisette Michele
Headlock -
Imogen Heap
Lothlorien - Enya

But what is this, that I cant see
with ice cold hands taking hold of me.
When God is gone and the Devil takes hold,
who will have mercy on your soul?

Legal sucks, therefore...

...Mistoffolees has decided to blog instead. Only because blogging is for cool kids aaaand I am a cool kid.

Anyway, what I really want to blog about today is somebody by the name of Holly, only because she's been giving me hell about including her in one of my posts. SO, here's a full post all dedicated to her... and maybe some other Drama kids. *big grin*

Okay... truth is I don't really know what to write at the current moment, so let these dazzling images do thy talking:

Oh, ain't she the epicest of babes? The fairest of them all? I THINK SO. Holly Polly is truly one of the most awesomest people in my life at this current moment and I sincerely admit that I love her to death! Gimme your jizz face, ya dirty abo.

Those last two images are really dazzling... not that the others weren't or anything...

OH, and these scrimshankers also rock quite hard:

Drama nerds will one day prevail over all and rule the world...
just you wait till they put on their extravagant performance of 'Stolen: On Ice!'
It'll be epic, bitches.

Over and out.

P.s. I think I may change my header/image. I'm getting a tad sick of it. Yay or Nay?

LOST day fail + MV of the week!

Hello to all! I've got quite a bit to talk about today, even though I have an adundant supply of school crap to do. Believe me, I'm looking at it, wanting to do it... but can't. Yes, there is no need to clarify the fact that I fail at life... I found that out ages ago.

Anyway, yesterday and today were probably the highlights of the last two dull/uneventful weeks. This is primarily because Caroline stayed at my house for a night in an attempt to watch all 5 seasons of LOST. Funny, no? but other than that, we did do a lot of things. We got home, ate chinese food, attempted to do homework, listened to some epic cool music, ate some more, watched Harry/Draco bromance MVs, pissed ourselves from laughter, read Pride and Prejudice out loud, ate even more, talked about 'cupping', bicthed about, pretty much, every person on God's green Earth... and we may have eaten just a bit more. But, in conclusion, all of this was done with a total of two LOST episodes watched. We're cool like that.

Now, I don't know if any of you have noticed (I doubt you have), but I did not post my 'MV of the week' yesterday... Yes, I know, big whoop, but Caroline said that there's probably people crying over the fact that I hadn't posted and that made me feel just a bit lurved. *silly giggle* So, the reason for me not posting is due to my MV block. Yes, I sincerely didn't know which video to choose and which fandom it should've come from. With the assistance of Caroline, I tried looking at Harry Potter MVs.

Nothing.

I tried looking at Dexter MVs.

Zero.

Heck, I even tried looking at Titanic MVs.

Zilch.

But, you know what they say: "When you can't find a decent MV, always think of English classes"... Okay, well that isn't exactly a common saying, but it's percisely what we did anyway! Caroline and I looked into to some Pride and Prejudice MVs, and I must say, a lot of them are really quite well made. Unfortunately, there are very little MVs dedicated to the 1995 mini-series version, but it doesn't worry me all that much, as I love the 2005 film version equally.

Okay, so after many judgements and comparisons, we finally picked the one we thought the most simple, but magical none the less. It's a video by a user named Meeshell384 and it's dedicated to the oh so cute relationship between Lizzie and Darcy in the 2005 version of P&P. Now, I'm not familiar with this user at all, but judging by some of the comments left on the video and her introductory clip, she's a user of the Sony Vegas program and a massive Harry Potter vidder, so two thumbs way up for her.

Now, the video's concept is really quite straight forward. It's basically about the relationship between Miss Bennett and Mr Darcy as well as the obstacles they face before they actually find peace with eachother. What I like about this video is that the user has put all the events in chronological order, therefore allowing the viewer to partially grasp the story of P&P in a nutshell, or more so, the flourishing love shared between our Hero and Heroine. I also feel that what Meeshell384 has done with this video is very suiting to the atmosphere and tone of the 2005 film. I believe that if she had attempted to do the same thing with the mini-series adaptation, the video's charm and spark would not have been the same, due to the different ways the two directors have portrayed the story's characters and settings. The video's song and colouring fits very well with the film adpatation, mainly because it is meant for a younger generation, rather than the mini-series, which is made for avid Austen lovers, who are expecting a real visual replica of the novel itself, which the mini-series really is.

Another thing that made this video so charming was also the light, pastel colouring the user has added. There is no fancy swapping of colour tones, which I find very much suits the romantic ambience of the video and the mood of the story itself. The user's cutting and editing is also great and the way she has manipulated the quick fading from scene to scene is fantastic. The song is another epic win for this pretty little visual experience. The Diary of Jane (acoustic version) by Breaking Benjamin is a haunting song about grabbing the attention of the one you love. It really pleases me how this song's meaning really clarifies the way Darcy actually feels about Lizzie. I also find it pretty funny how one of the lyrics in the song goes 'I will try and find my place in the diary of Jane'... You need not worry Darcy, because you already have... You certainly have. Anyway, the song's use is great, primarily because of the way the user has timed the scenes to go with the song's lyrics.

OH EM GEE, I also ADORED how she added Darcy's proclaimation of love during the credits. Absoluely beautiful!

Okay, so I actually think this is one of my favourite MVs ever, therefore I shall give it a 5 out of 5. It's just immensely lovely and it really does set the mood of the actual film and story. Caroline and I liked it so much, that we actually went and watched the very same film.

Matthew Macfadyen you sexual beast. You're almost as Darcylicious as Colin, if not, as Darcylicious. Anyway, here's the actual video for your own judgement. Just a note that the first 8 seconds is the users intro. It's of Hermione Granger descending some stairs. Other than that, enjoy:

Thanks for reading! Over and out.

Rant + MV of the week!

Hello to all my loverly friends.

Yep, you guessed it. It's 'MV of the Week' time! but before I get one with that, I think I may just tell you a bit about the personal aspect of my week... Well, besides the school work and the inevitable exhaustion involved, I've actually been in this infamous mood where the slightest or smallest issues just consternate me, and I think it may actually be affecting the people around me. Now, I can't help the fact that I've had little patience as of late, but, unfortunately, I feel that I have been patient for a bit too long, so now I believe that the time is right to say how I really feel.

I've had enough of people taking and never giving anything back, whilst at the same time expecting to be given more. I just feel like if I don't answer to someone's plea, I'll be hated for the rest of my life, or rather the rest of the week until they have something else to ask me for. I don't have 50 000 hands, I just can't do everything you ask of me and, yes, I can say no. You're not pleased with that? Well then, excuse my French, but you can all find someone else to fuck up.

Now, chances are that I am a selfish cow with psychological issues who's possibly dreamt this all up, and if that it is the case, my sincerest appologies... but right now, I just feel like I need a good whinge to shake me out of this horrible mood.

Anyway, on to a slightly different note, the MV of this week is also a bit sad and bittersweet (like myself, seeing as I've had a good day, but a horror-filled week). This gem of a vidlet is made by a user named Jonnyzkool92 and he has dedicated it to the wonderful women of... LOST!

Okay, so those who know me quite well will certainly know that I have been going on about the final season premiere of LOST all damn week and when I had actually watched it, I came back to school the next day with jizz stains on my kilt... Okay, no I didn't, but that's just my way of saying that it was quite good, therefore I feel the MV of this week should be one that revolves around LOST.

Anyway, Jonnyzkool92 is actually an avid LOST fan-vidder and I'm quite familiar with his work, which is exceptionally good, specifically this video. The main reason for this is because I feel that LOST has the best ensemble of cast members and characters in modern day television, specifically it's female cast, who I think portray their characters' emotions and personas fabulously. Jonnyzcool92 has brought together all the tension, bitterness, joy, spite, fear, confusion, hurt and relief felt by these women, and has merged them in order to create a masterful video, presenting the story of every single woman, major to minor, who has somehow elevated the plot of LOST.

...and dare I say that this is actually what I loved most about this video? In all honesty, I've grown just a tad sick and tired of seeing all these Skate, Suliet, Jacket and Jate videos, which only focus on the realtionships rather than the emotional depth of the characters. This video, on the other hand, has it all. If you want to go on a visual journey from love to hate, from joy to anger, from hope to despair, from courage to fear and from life to death, this video will take you there. Another aspect of the video's context, which also thoroughly pleased me, is that the user included so many underrated characters that I personally love. An example of this would be the short but sweet inclusion of the likes of Libby, Penny, Charlotte, Nadia and, my personal favourite, the mother-daughter realtionship between Danielle and Alex. *tear*

On to a more technical note, the video had uh-mazing colouring. I really quite liked how the user constantly mainpulated different colour tones and contrasts to match the tension in the atmosphere of the scene or the mood of the character. One distinct use of colour I like is the scene with Juliet burning herself with a muffin tray, resulting in a memory of Ben doing the same thing without being physically harmed. The memory is shown in grey-scale and the aftermath of the memory is Juliet frustrated with her clumsiness, therefore the scene's colour tone is changed to an orange-twinge in order to signify Juliet's anger.

The user also did a fantastic job with the cutting and editing by choosing all the scenes capable of having an emotional impact on the viewer, as well as the song choice which also intensified the video's meaning. Breathe Me by Sia is prossibly one of the saddest songs I've ever heard and it really matches a lot of the situations our LOST ladies are going through. Sia performs the song magically, making her pain and anguish believable through the haunting cracks in her voice and the hopelessness of the lyrics, which the user has masterfully used to go with the situation in each clip or scene, therfore making the song ideal for the video.

In conclusion, I give it 5 out of 5, due to the fact that the user has captured the right emotions and edited it immaculately. If you are not a LOSTie, do not fear, this video is uh-mazing and I firmly believe that you do not have to watch the show in order to feel something towards this work of art. BUT, once again, this is only my opinion and I'll leave it for you to judge:

Thanks people! Over and out.

Betrayal - A.S.J Tessimond

If a man says half himself in the light, adroit
Way a tune shakes into equilibrium,
Or approximates to a note that never comes:

Says half himself in the way two pencil-lines
Flow to each other and softly separate,
In the resolute way plane lifts and leaps from plane:

Who knows what intimacies our eyes may shout,
What evident secrets daily foreheads flaunt,
What panes of glass conceal our beating hearts?

This is exactly how I feel about everybody right now.

That is all.

Much better

Hello my little scrumple-muffins (don't ask). Good news: I've decided that this is probably going to be a daily blog, but it also kind of depends on how I feel and whether I'm busy or not. Not to mention that lately I've been overtly enthusiastic about my blog, primarily because blogging is something new to me, sooo I'm not entirely sure if this inspritation will stay for long... Example of my inspiration withering: I didn't update yesterday, BUT I do have a reason for that, thank you very much. :/

Anyway, d'you remember that last post how I was just rambling about the nightmare-ish slowness of my internet (that's the reason)? Yeah, well it's much better now and I can actually upload a couple of images like I promised. Excitement!

So, here they are:

Caroline and I during our fab walk around the block.
Judging by our ecstatic facial expressions, you can just tell that the walk was fab.

This is mainly what our day consisted of.
The Waters of Mars was possibly one of the most epic things I've ever seen.

Since I'm a huge fan of Vogue, I took advantage of Caroline's
Italian Vogue Magazine. This was my favourite image,
due to her short Shirley Temple-like hair, smokey eyes, checked shirt, leather jacket and cig.

I also spent a large amount of the day looking at Caroline's Favole
books by Victoria Frances. I love these books and their gothic imagery.
They're filled with vampires, faeries, ghosts, demonic children and other strange things.
Here are some of my faves:

(Just a note, that the last two were not taken by me, due to the fact that they turned out blurry)

As you can see, I'm really into the whole harlequin scene. I don't know what it is that appeals to me about it... I guess it's just the whole facepaint, neck-ruffles, jumpsuits etc... But rather surprisingly, my favourite of these gorgeous artworks is the last one.

Victoria Frances, in her books, writes a story to go with each image, but I personally find her descriptive language horribly boring, therefore I didn't bother reading the story behind it (though maybe I probably should've). None the less, this artwork exudes so much emotion. It's as if the main subject of the image had a love or a meaningful somebody lost at sea. Just look at the ghost ship... It's evident, not only through the woman's pose and facial expression, but also through the image's isolated setting and gloomy colour toning, that many loved ones have departed due to the ocean's demands. It's soo intense it makes me wee myself... No, but seriously people, this artwork is beautiful. It sort of reminds me of a song by Nightwish called The Islander, which is a very sad, celtic-like song, about a man lost at sea. =(

Anyway, today was my first real day of school, though nothing much really happened. I spent most of it running liturgies or stressing about the amount of math homework I should've done over the summer, rather than actually having enjoyed my break. Come to think of it, I should be starting right now, but I'd rather just chill... or maybe chilling isn't an option? Gah, I fail at life. :/

Oh, and just to lighten up the mood a bit, I've picked my MV of the week, and I shall be posting it on friday. It's short, but sweet.

Anyway, I suppose that's all for today. Peace.

...shyte

Hey there you scrimshankers. I'm sad to say that my mood at the moment is:

R E A L L Y.A N N O Y E D. This is mainly because I leave the house for, what, five hours? and I come back to find that my internet is as slow as your mum... KIDDING. Your mum isn't slow (?) it's just that I'm exceedingly angered, and when I'm exceedingly angered, I tend to throw insults at your mum. o.O

Anyway, on to a happier note, I spent most of the day with the wonderous, the uh-mazing and the sexyful, Caroline (L). We spent most of the day either bitching, taking photos, laughing about nothing, watching Doctor Who, complaining about the infnite length of the DVD Confidentials or drooling over David Tennant (who happens to be the most sexiest scot in the history of sexy scottish people).

Now... I do have photos, but my internet is sooo slow that I could run a lap around the world and my Facebook page would probably still be loading. None the less, I'm going to give it a go uploading them, and if you see them posted, then it obviously worked and my internet decided to cooperate with me. *fingers crossed*

.....

Epic fail.

Okay, so I'll post the next blog entry (which will include the photos) when my internet has regained it's strength. GOSH, the bitch could've found a better time to get PMS, I actually had some wonderful Victoria Frances artworks to show you, all photographed out of Caroline's books.

Anyway, life goes on. Ta.

Introduction

Hello chickens (if there are any chickens or let alone people reading this)! How do you do? My name is Nadine (as I have stated above), I am 17, my favourite film is Gone with the Wind and I am embarassingly new to the art of blogging.

Now, before I actually decided to start a blog (a decision made five minutes ago), I was actually thinking of making my own actual vlog series. This is for several reasons:
  1. I have a lot to say
  2. I am a somtimes active member of YouTube
  3. I admire prosperous vloggers and enjoy watching them do their thing

But, alas. Things such as this just cannot be, due to me not having enough patience, my face being hardly worthy of appearing on a video every week AND my improv skills are rather questionable. So, if ever I upload a video to youtube, it would be a montage or one that I've simply edited. Yes, I do love editing and I'm extremely ambitous to learn the skill of creating crossovers using complicated Sony Vegas tools such as Cookie Cutter. =/

Okay, I may be new to this, but I'm assuming that one's first blog is always an introductory one... No? Righty, well regardless of what other people's first blogs are like, mine's just going to be a boring introduction without anything too intense.

Anyway, I've stated my name, my age and of course, my favourite film, but here are some other fascinations and fixations of mine that you may find slightly interesting:
  • I have a cat named Socks and a cockatiel named dork
  • I wish to have, by the end of the year, a miniature pug named Ludo
  • I derived my blog title and username from a song called The Escapist by Nightwish. They were talking about a nightingale in a golden cage, so I changed it a bit. ^^
  • I've got an obsession with eyeshadow, especially strangely given eyeshadow shade names
  • I wish to buy this Bobbi Brown eyeshadow, obscurely named 'Burnt Sugar'. It's $44. Wah.
  • Lord of the Rings is my anti-drug
  • I love watching, analysing and critiquing film, though I may not be very experienced
  • I enjoy laughing and also making people laugh, just because laughing is possibly the most joyous thing one ever does
  • Hugh Laurie and Michael C. Hall are babes. Period.
  • I love animated Disney classics such as Snow White, The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Pinocchio
  • When you find me watching television, I'm watching LOST, House, Dexter and good Britcoms such as Blackadder or Fawlty Towers
  • Audrey Hepburn is my idol
  • My most beloved colours are a tie between Gold and Silver
  • I talk Arabic
  • I loooove hairbows!
  • I like weird people
  • My favourite foods are Mexican and Sushi

Well, that's all I can tell you about me for now. I wish I had started this blog on a more interesting day, so that I can talk about that, but nothing really cool (nor good) has happened today... Besides meeting the new year 7's now attending the school I go to. They were cute because they were scared of me.
OH and my mother got sick, therefore I had no ride to greet my dear friend Caroline at the airport after arriving from her annual Italian trip. Now I just feel like crap because I have a sick mother and a friend I have failed.

Anyway... Till next time. Toodles!
Nadine xx
